Vancouver police are trying to identify a man who died in hospital after being found in medical distress on a sidewalk last month. The man was found near Keefer and Columbia streets on Sept. 7 and died on Sept. 11, the Vancouver Police Department said in a statement Monday. “Investigators do not suspect foul play and are not conducting a criminal investigation,” the statement said. “Attempts to identify the man through DNA, missing person reports, and police databases have been unsuccessful.” The man had a tattoo of an anchor on the upper part of his left arm and the VPD released a photo of it in an effort to identify the deceased. The man’s age is estimated at between 45 and 60 and he “appears to be white,” authorities said, adding that he wore dentures and had short greyish brown hair and brown eyes. Anyone with information that could help investigators identify the man is urged to call 604-717-2530 or email missing.vpd@vpd.ca.
