Dozens of flights out of Vancouver International Airport were cancelled Sunday morning after WestJet flight attendants went on strike. The cancellations come as the airport was expecting an average of 85,100 passengers per day over the B.C. Day Long weekend. βWe are increasing our terminal staffing to support affected travellers as best as possible, but WestJet passengers are advised to check the status of their flight or access information about rebooking before coming to the airport,β a statement from YVR posted online Sunday said. βWestJet passengers should not come to YVR unless they have a confirmed itinerary.β Negotiations between the airline and the union representing flight attendants are ongoing.
