A dangerous offender hearing continued in Superior Court Wednesday. Douglas Serrano appeared in front of Justice Maria Carroccia on Tuesday and Wednesday. He is accused of break-and-enter with intent and sexual assault. According to the Crown, Serrano has a lengthy criminal record stretching back more than 20 years. In 2025, Serrano was acquitted of several charges including sexual assault and forcible confinement due to a lack of evidence. Representatives from Corrections Services Canada, Ministry of Attorney General of Ontario, and Parole Board of Canada appeared via video as witnesses over the two days. The hearing resumes July 20.
