Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) made three arrests for alleged impaired driving over the weekend in Essex County. In Tecumseh, OPP responded to a complaint made on Friday at 5:47 p.m. on Walker Rd. which resulted in a 20-year-old Windsor driver being charged with impaired driving. The driver was hit with a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment. On Sunday, an OPP officer pulled over a driver around 12:30 a.m. on County Rd. 22 and Puce Rd. in Lakeshore. The stop resulted in a 42-year-old Windsor resident charged with impaired driving and driving with a blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). A couple of hours later in Leamington, OPP responded to a crash on Danforth Ave. and Oak St. in Leamington around 2:23 a.m. which ultimately led to charges. A 35-year-old Leamington driver was charged with impaired driving, driving with a blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), and dangerous operation offences. The Leamington driver was given a 90-day driver’s licence suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment. In a news release, OPP stressed community safety is its “paramount” concern and will continue to enforce impaired driving laws in the name of road safety. Police urge those who suspect someone of driving impaired to call 911, while non-emergency traffic complaints can be made by calling 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
