Mill’s Dollar Plus is set to recreate itself as Mill’s Grocery Plus. “In a neighborhood that could be considered a food desert where a lot of people don’t drive… It’s something that’s very important to have especially in the weeks like we’re having right now,” said Stephen Hargreaves, Sandwich Town BIA, Director. A co-owner told CTV News Windsor the space will be a full-service grocery store with fresh produce, breads, dairy, and meats. Shoppers can watch the conversion happening one aisle at a time as the store won’t be closing during the changeover. The co-owners say they will also offer delivery for an extra fee. “It’s going to be great. I’m looking forward to it,” said the owner of neighbouring business My Barber. “Seeing new faces, new traffic. It’s definitely going to feel like a home, like a nice community again. Compared to what it’s been.” Other businesses are also slated to open this year. SPQR Roma Café, Pretty and Co., a dessert and gift boutique, and a second hair salon. In December, Jake’s Olde Towne Tavern opened up shop. “We’re on the doorstep of the opening of the Gordie Howe Bridge,” said Hargreaves. “For many people it will be the first time they visit Canada. We will be, the gateway for so many people whether they’re coming across the multi-use pathway, on foot, by bicycle, or driving.” The BIA plans to launch a major tourism campaign in the near future.
