Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare (HDGH) has a message for residents on World Mental Health Day. HDGH is encouraging everyone to prioritize their mental wellbeing and reminding individuals and families that support is available at every stage of life through a wide range of mental health and addictions programs and services. Mental health challenges can affect anyone, regardless of age, background, or circumstance. “As we recognize World Mental Health Day, we want everyone in our community to know that they are not alone,” said Bill Marra, President and CEO of HDGH. “Mental health is health, and seeking support is a sign of strength.” Support for Children and Youth HDGH’s Regional Children’s Centre (RCC) serves as the Lead Agency for child and youth mental health services in Windsor-Essex. Through WEConnectKids, children, youth, caregivers, and service providers can be connected to the most appropriate mental health and addictions services based on their unique needs. If you are concerned about a child or youth, or if you are a young person who may be struggling with your mental health or an addiction, help is available by calling 519-257-KIDS (5437) or by attending the RCC Walk-In Counselling Clinic during regular business hours. If you or your child/youth are at immediate risk of harm to themselves or others, please go to the nearest Emergency Department right away or dial 911 to be connected with our Youth Crisis Response Team (YCRT). YCRT brings together an RCC Social Worker and a Police Officer to provide immediate assessment, support, and connections to appropriate services. Mental Health and Addictions Services for Adults HDGH offers a range of specialized outpatient mental health and addictions programs to help support the mental wellbeing of adults in the community. For those experiencing an urgent mental health or addictions crisis, immediate support is available through HDGH’s Mental Health and Addictions Urgent Crisis Centre (MHAUCC) located at 1030 Ouellette Avenue. Operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year, the MHAUCC provides walk-in services, crisis intervention, addictions support, and access to specialized care for those aged 16 years or older. Crisis Services are also available 24/7 by calling 519-973-4435. “Creating a healthier community means reducing stigma and making it easier for people to reach out for help,” added Tammy Kotyk, Vice President of Mental Health and Addictions. “Whether you are seeking support for yourself, your child, a family member, or a friend, HDGH and our community partners are here to help.”
