As the temperature continues to cool, the call is out for the community to help stray felines feel warm, calm, and cared for this holiday season. The ‘Cozy Cats’ campaign is a Windsor-Essex County Humane Society (WECHS) fundraiser and it’s now underway. Public donations will help grow the fund to revitalize cat intake rooms in the oldest part of the building, dating back to 1971. Future upgrades to the facility will include lighting that mimics natural sunlight, resting perches, hideaways and monitors to play calming and entertaining content to comfort our feline friends during their stay. The target is $12,500. So far, almost $9,500 has been raised. Lynnette Bain is the executive director of the Windsor-Essex County Humane Society. Bain and her team are grateful for the ongoing generosity and support from the community. “We’re thrilled with the momentum that it’s gained,” said Bain. “And obviously Giving Tuesday is tomorrow, and people will be thinking about what charities to give to. And we’re trying to appeal to those who want to make a difference in some of these cats’ lives.” Donations can be made directly on the Humane Society’s website.
