A sexual assault trial has begun inside Windsor’s Superior Courthouse. Jesse Meloche of Windsor faces one count of sexual assault. A publication ban is in effect to protect the identity of the victim, who gave her testimony virtually on Monday. She told the court she attended grade school with Meloche’s younger brother, but she had platonic relationships with both. The victim said on May 8, 2019, her mother forced her to take a walk with Meloche to a nearby coffee shop. “He asked me to have sex and I said no,” she told the court. The victim is expected to continue her testimony Tuesday. A nurse from Windsor Regional Hospital, who conducted a sexual assault treatment kit, is also expected to testify. The trial is estimated to last five days.
