Chatham-Kent police are telling the public to not be alarmed if they see increased police presence near Georges P. Vanier School. Police training exercises will be conducted at the school at 20 Cecile Avenue in Chatham on July 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. During this time, residents may notice an increased police presence in the area. The exercises will include realistic sound effects, which may be audible to nearby neighbours. Members of the public are advised that this is a training exercise. Police say there is no cause for alarm. To ensure the safety and effectiveness of the training, the public is asked to avoid the immediate area while the exercises are underway.
