The University of Windsor is touting new rankings from Maclean’s that put the institution among the best mid-sized universities in the province. On Wednesday, the university recognized the newly released Maclean’s 2027 University Rankings as proof positive of UWindsor’s growing recognition among top institutions. “We are proud of this recognition and remain focused on building an exceptional university experience for our students and making meaningful contributions to the region and nation,” said J.J. McMurtry, President and Vice-Chancellor at the University of Windsor, in a news release. The rankings from the century-old public affairs publication see the University of Windsor on the podium among mid-sized universities in Ontario in three categories: “These rankings reflect the priorities that matter to our university community: advancing knowledge through impactful research and helping students achieve their goals,” said McMurtry. The university points to the ranking as a reflection of the on-campus experience as well as recognition of the innovation on campus — highlighting research on cybersecurity for autonomous systems, cancer diagnostics, and sustainability in agriculture. Maclean’s has carried out an evaluation of Canadian universities for more than three decades. The ranking categorizes universities on size, ranking small, mid-sized, and large universities based on student populations of less than 10,000, between 10,000 and 30,000, and more than 30,000.
