A nine-year-old boxer is planning on making her debut at the Windsor riverfront on Saturday. Border City Boxing is hosting Rumble on the River, a free show for all ages. Nine-year-old Natyli Brown began boxing two years ago because she wanted to try a combat sport. She visits the gym six days a week to train. “It’s only 12 when you can have a real fight,” said Brown. “It won’t go on my record, but it’ll be as close to a real fight as I can get.” Her coach, Josh Canty, says she comes every day and bugs her parents to come to the gym when she’s not there. “Even when her parents are tired and they don’t want to bring her, she still gets here,” said Canty, with Border City Boxing. “Natyli, we’re proud of her. Her first fight. She will be the first bout of the evening, so if you’re coming down to the river, don’t be any later than 6 p.m. if you want to see Natyli’s debut fight.” Brown says she’s nervous, but excited for the fight. Brown will take on Vlada Kosenko, 8, who is a member of Boomerz Boxing in London, Ont.
