Sandwich Town has launched a new tourism campaign, hoping to attract visitors to the area. It launched Friday. The community joined together to film the campaign and launch it on May 1. “The shoot was a full day shoot from 7 a.m. until sunset,” said Drew Hyttenrauch, producer and director of the project. “We had a stretch of Sandwich Street blocked off. We had a camera car set up with a camera following the cyclists, we had about 35 extras that came together, we filmed in four or five different locations all across Sandwich Town.” Filming wrapped up within a day. “Incredible to have our work showcased on national TV across the states and Canada,” he said. “I think this is a really good way to showcase the first thing that you see when you cross the bridge (Gordie Howe International Bridge) coming into Sandwich Town and I think we definitely did that in a cool and creative way.” The commercial advertises being able to bike across the Gordie Howe International Bridge for free in just eight minutes. It was funded by the Gordie Howe Bridge Community Benefits program. “We’re basically the first piece of civilization you reach and once you’ve cycled across, your legs are probably a little bit tired,” said Stephen Hargreaves, Sandwich Town BIA director. “You probably want to sit down and have something to eat, something to drink.”
