Environment Canada has issued a yellow watch for a severe thunderstorm for Windsor-Essex. The forecaster says conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. Strong wind gusts up to 100 km/h are possible, along with nickel to toonie size hail and torrential downpours. Thunderstorms are expected to develop mid to late Wednesday afternoon along and ahead of an advancing cold front. The primary concern with any thunderstorms will be for strong and potentially damaging winds along with large hail and torrential rain. Conditions could become favourable for some thunderstorms to be able to produce a tornado. Thunderstorms may persist through the overnight into Thursday morning which may lead to significant rain threat.
