Ontario’s police watchdog is investigating after Windsor police say a vehicle fled from an attempted traffic stop before colliding with another vehicle on Walker Road Friday morning. According to the Windsor Police Service, an officer attempted to stop a vehicle shortly after 8 a.m. on Friday in the 3300 block of Walker Road. Police said the vehicle did not stop and sped away before colliding with another vehicle a short distance away. Two people were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Walker Road was closed between Sydney Avenue and Foster Avenue for several hours while the investigation continued. Police said early Saturday morning the road had reopened. The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate and is now investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Because the SIU is investigating, Windsor police said they are unable to provide further information.
