Windsor-taped MLP Mayhem makes national television debut on TSN2

A professional wrestling series filmed in Windsor is making its national television debut.

Maple Leaf Pro Mayhem will premiere at midnight on TSN2 (Thursdays at 12:01 a.m.), beginning a 12-week run of hour-long episodes.

New episodes will air weekly in the same time slot.

“This is so exciting right now. This is decades in the making — hard work, dedication, and big dreams,” said Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling president Scott D’Amore.

Maple Leaf Pro Wrestling says the program marks the first time in nearly 40 years that a Canadian wrestling promotion has secured a show on TSN.

The first season was recorded over two nights at St. Clair College this past June.

While local audiences saw the action unfold live during those tapings, the national broadcast will bring the Windsor-produced show to viewers across Canada for the first time.

The series will combine wrestling matches with continuing storylines that develop throughout the 12-episode season.

The premiere will feature three matches, including two championship contests. Canadian champions Gisele Shaw and Stu Grayson are both scheduled to defend their titles.

The season will showcase Canadian performers alongside wrestlers who have appeared with several major international promotions. Familiar names scheduled to appear during the season include Billy Gunn, Johnny TV, and Rhino.

Canadian combat-sports broadcaster Mauro Ranallo and wrestling personality Don Callis will call the action.

The June tapings at St. Clair College saw matches filmed for the first six episodes.

MLP will film the remaining six episodes during another two-night taping at St. Clair College on August 7 & 8. Tickets are available online.
