A Windsor woman has been recognized for her decades of contributions to the community. In addition to working a full-time job, Barbara Matis has spent over 25 years volunteering with the Girl Guides of Canada, the Optimist Club of Forest Glade, her parish, and countless community events. Matis was also awarded the King Charles III Coronation Medal for her community efforts. Now, Absolute Comfort gifted her a HVAC system for her dedication. “We couldn’t think of anybody better than Barb to donate this equipment to,” said Andrew Hazzard, operations manager at Absolute Comfort Control Services. “We’re happy to basically give her some comfort and peace of mind for the upcoming future.” After dozens of nominations, Matis was selected the winner of a free HVAC system through Lennox’s ‘Feel the Love” campaign. “I’ve been divorced, and the divorce was traumatic and an expensive experience,” said Matis. “My daughter has been helping me financially. To have this kind of a gift of this magnitude is just unbelievable and mind boggling.” The team at Absolute Comfort Control Services installed the system Friday. “Lennox reached out to us to see if we wanted to take part in this program and this is right up our alley,” said Hazzard. “I’m happy that we can do this this year and we’re looking forward to doing it for the next foreseeable future.”
