Winnipeggers can start casting their ballots for mayor, councillor and school trustees next week. The City of Winnipeg announced advance voting gets underway on Oct. 5 and will continue until Oct. 23. Voters can cast their ballots Oct. 5 to 23, except for weekends and Thanksgiving, on the second floor of City Hall at 510 Main Street from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Other locations include: Advance voting will also be offered at community advance locations in all 15 council wards from Oct. 19 to 22. A full list of locations can be found online. All voters around the city, no matter where they live in Winnipeg, can vote at advance voting locations. Election staff will also visit hospitals, care homes, post-secondary education spaces and other locations to give people a chance to vote. Voters are required to bring valid identification that shows their name and current address, such as a driver’s licence, when they go to vote. Identification requirements can be found online. Election Day is Oct. 28.
