Two people have been arrested and are facing several gun- and drug-related charges after a crash Friday evening. Winnipeg police were called to a two-vehicle crash in St. Norbert in the 3000 block of Pembina Highway. Police said they learned two people from one of the vehicles were taking bags out and hiding them near a hotel close by. The people in the other vehicle – a woman and toddler – were taken to hospital in stable condition. Officers went to the hotel and found a bag with a .22 calibre semi-automatic rifle and a loaded magazine. One of the people from the vehicle – a 17-year-old boy – was also found. Police said he was arrested and found with two CO2-powered pistols, crack cocaine and packaging materials for drugs. The second person in the vehicle – a 33-year-old man – was found in a field nearby. He was arrested and taken to hospital in stable condition. Officers searched the vehicle as well and found methamphetamine and cocaine. In total, police said 135 grams of drugs were found. The 17-year-old was charged with multiple drug- and firearm-related offences and remains in custody. The 33-year-old man was charged with driving while impaired as well as drug- and firearm-related offences. He too remains in custody. None of the charges have been tested in court.
