The Montreal police (SPVM) arson squad is investigating after a fire at a bakery in the LaSalle borough. Montreal police report that a 911 call at around 2 a.m. prompted authorities to the Patisserie LaSalle on Newman Boulevard near Lise Street as a fire began spreading inside. The Montreal Fire Department arrived, and firefighters were able to control the fire from spreading to the adjoining businesses. They found that a front window was smashed and the business was on fire. “Some incendiary material was found on the scene,” said SPVM spokesperson Caroline Chevrefils. “The damages to the building are minor.” The fire did not spread to any other businesses in the building. The suspect fled before authorities arrived. No arrests have been made, and the investigation was transferred to the arson unit and is ongoing. No one was injured.
