A Winnipeg man is facing numerous charges after allegedly waving a gun while driving on the Trans-Canada Highway shortly before noon on Tuesday. According to RCMP, the suspect was seen driving “erratically” and waving a handgun through his car’s sunroof after passing another vehicle east of Portage la Prairie, Man. About 20 minutes later, Mounties found the suspect driving west of Portage la Prairie and initiated a traffic stop. The suspect – a 25-year-old Winnipeg man – was arrested without incident. Following the arrest, police seized an airsoft replica BB handgun from the suspect’s vehicle. The 25-year-old man is facing numerous charges, including two counts of assault with a weapon, two counts of pointing a firearm and two counts of uttering threats. The charges have not been proven in court. The suspect was released on an undertaking. His first court appearance is set for September.
