A fire retardant that spilled onto Route 11 in northern New Brunswick on Wednesday has been found to be non-hazardous, according to the provincial government. The government said a brightly-coloured solution spilled onto the northbound lanes between Jacquet River and Charlo. The solution consisted of ammonium polyphosphate, which is a fertilizer-type phosphate salt. “The spill, estimated to be between 50-100 litres over several kilometres was contained to the roadway, and has now dried,” a statement from the government reads.
