A man and woman have been arrested after an assault and collision involving a stolen vehicle in Cole Harbour, N.S., according to police. RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment responded to a report of an assault on Poplar Drive around 11:55 a.m. on Thursday. According to police, a man was assaulted in his home by another man who was known to him. The victim reported the suspect had a handgun and left the area with another man and a woman in a white Ford Edge. Police say they later learned the Ford Edge had been stolen in Cape Breton and received further confirmation from witnesses that one of the occupants of the vehicle was a firearm in their possession. Halifax Regional Police responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision in the area of Spring Avenue and Clysdale Drive in Dartmouth around 1 p.m. Responding officers identified the stolen Ford Edge from the Cole Harbour incident, which had collided with a Ford Escape. Following the crash, police say the driver and female passenger from the Edge from the scene on foot. The passenger was arrested a short time later. The driver was located in a river near Josephine Court, and was arrested and escorted to shore, according to police. The driver, 29-year-old Morgan James Matthew Herney of Halifax, was charged with: Herney was also arrested on two outstanding warrants related to charges of: The female passenger, 26-year-old Trinity Skye Bernard of Whycocomagh, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. She was released from custody and is set to appear in court at a later date, according to police. Police say the investigation is still ongoing, and the firearm has yet to be located.
