One of the bridges spanning the Halifax Harbour will be closed this weekend. The Angus L. Macdonald Bridge will be closed to all traffic from 8 p.m. Friday to 5:30 a.m. Monday. The closure follows the completion of Project Lifespan, a two-year, $70-million project that stripped old paint from both bridge towers. Inspections and repairs were also done as part of the project. The work is expected to ensure the structures’ integrity for the next 70 years. Halifax Harbour Bridges (HHB) says crews will be dismantling an overhead platform and sidewalk shed during this weekend’s closure. Free transit tickets are available now for pedestrians and cyclists affected by the closure. They can be picked up 24/7 only at HHB’s operations centre on Wyse Road in Dartmouth, N.S.
