A new long-term care home has officially opened its doors in Lower Sackville, N.S. Rosecrest The Meadows is a modern 144-bed home that has a single room and private washroom for each resident. It also has occupational therapy and physiotherapy space, a hair salon, a community connection room and an outdoor garden space. More than 100 residents have already moved into the facility and the rest are expected over the coming weeks. “We are already seeing the difference that modern, private rooms and thoughtfully designed spaces can make in their daily lives,” said Barbara Adams, Nova Scotia’s minister of seniors and long-term care, in a provincial release. “With senior populations growing across the country, the need for long-term care continues to increase. Here in Nova Scotia, every new home we open means more access to care and more spaces where people can live in comfort, with dignity.” The province says construction is currently underway on more than 2,000 single long-term care rooms.
