Yarmouth, N.S., man charged with alleged historic sexual assaults while he was a cab driver

A 63-year-old Yarmouth, N.S., man has been charged with historic sexual assaults that allegedly happened between 2001 and 2004.

The Yarmouth Town RCMP says it started an investigation last January after receiving reports of the alleged assaults that involved the owner and operator of a taxi business known as “Classic Cabs.”

“At this time, investigators have identified two victims who were youths at the time of the offences,” an RCMP news release reads.

On Thursday, police arrested James “Jim” Roy Fields from Brooklyn, N.S., and charged him with:

• two counts of sexual assault
• two counts of sexual exploitation
• assault

Fields was released on conditions and is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 11.

Police told CTV News Atlantic the accused drove a taxi as part of his business and the sexual assault offences are alleged to have occurred in the course of his work as a taxi driver.
