A driver has been fined after passing a stopped school bus displaying flashing red lights in Summerside, P.E.I. According to the Summerside Police Service, officers have received multiple complaints recently about drivers passing stopped buses. As a result, police were monitoring traffic in the Water Street area on Thursday. Around 3:30 p.m. police said officers saw a driver pass a bus that had stopped to let students off. “The bus had come to a complete stop, and its red stop lights were clearly visible,” said police in a news release Friday. Police said a traffic stop was then conducted and the driver was issued a summary offence ticket. “The minimum penalty, which the driver was issued, carries a $1,000 fine and a three-month license suspension,” said police.
