The Prince Edward Island RCMP is investigating a “suspicious fire” that damaged a mobile classroom at Westwood Primary School over the weekend. Emergency crews responded to the reported fire at the classroom, which is under construction, around 10:47 p.m. on Sunday. “The Provincial Fire Marshal attended the scene and determined the fire to be suspicious in nature,” an RCMP news release reads. “There were no injuries, and the fire was contained to the mobile classroom.” Anyone with information on the fire is asked to call police at 902-368-9300, or anonymously contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or at www.peicrimestoppers.com. “A suspicious fire at a school property affects not only the physical structure but also the confidence and sense of security of students, staff and residents,” said Cpl. Gavin Moore, media relations officer with the P.E.I. RCMP. “We are committed to determining what happened and holding those responsible accountable.” According to its website, Westwood Primary School is a dual-track English and French immersion school in Cornwall for kindergarten to Grade 3 students.
