A months long investigation of a Barrie man has led to serious charges. Barrie police say the investigation began after the Internet Child Exploitation unit and the National Centre of Missing and Exploited Children received a report of the upload of child sexual abuse and exploitation material. Police executed a search warrant at a home in the city’s east end in June, but the accused was nowhere to be found. A secondary search warrant was executed in late July in the city’s west end, during which police were able to locate the accused. Officers also seized an electric mobile device, which police say was analyzed and its contents were categorized as “images and videos of child sexual abuse and exploitation material.” A 24-year-old is now facing one count of possession of and one count of accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
