For a family in Barrie, a trick-or-treating run has resulted in a sinister find. According to police, a group of children went out Halloween night to gather candy in the city’s Wessenger Park area. Days later, one of them noticed the smell of nail glue while trying to open a box of smarties. When the box finally opened, police say the child found a small razor blade inside. Fortunately the child was not injured. Police say the tiny blade has since been submitted for forensic analysis. Where the tampered candy came from remains a mystery, as according to police, no other similar incidents have been reported. Barrie Police are reminding parents and caregivers to inspect children’s candy hauls and report any suspicious findings.
