Southwestern Public Health says it plans to consolidate its Woodstock operations into a single location by 2027. The health unit’s board of health has approved a move to 712 Peel St., bringing services currently spread across three Woodstock locations under one roof. Southwestern Public Health currently operates from offices at 410 Buller St. and 93 Graham St., as well as leased dental space at the Oxford County Community Health Centre. The move is expected to take place in late summer 2027. As a tenant, the health unit said it will occupy about half of the building, while the remainder will continue to be used independently by the property owner. The board struck a special building committee in 2023 to explore options for consolidating operations, including new construction, leased space and other development opportunities. The committee selected the Peel Street site, citing its location, functionality and value. “This central site offers an efficient use of existing public sector space that is currently underused,” Bernia Martin, chair of the Southwestern Public Health Board of Health, said in a statement. “It keeps public health services local, with a more practical approach to delivering those services to our clients.” Renovations are scheduled to begin this fall, with completion anticipated in late summer 2027. The health unit says it will provide updates to the community as planning for the move progresses.
