A fast car running a red light at John and Anne streets in Barrie’s west-end drew the attention of Barrie police on the Civic Holiday. As the male driver pulled into George Street, the cruiser activated its lights. The car faked pulling over and then made a quick U-turn past the police car. Due to the heavy volume of traffic, the police officer didn’t pursue the car. Around noon, police spotted the car heading south on the Queensway at a high rate of speed. Once again, police attempted to pull over the vehicle, but the driver maneuvered around the police cruiser and took off. A short time later; the suspect vehicle crashed into a light post.
