An investigation is underway after an armed robbery at a fast food restaurant in south Barrie. According to police, a masked man entered the store on Mapleview Drive West around 10:20 p.m. on Wednesday. Police say he brandished a large, “cleaver-style” knife and demanded money from the cash register. The two employees complied and police say the suspect proceeded to empty the cash register before fleeing on foot. Authorities say he was last seen heading southbound on Veteran’s Drive. Despite a police perimeter and the use of K9 units, officers were unable to find the suspect. No one was injured during the incident and an investigation into the matter continues. Police are now turning to the public for help, asking anyone with information, dash cam or surveillance footage of a suspicious person or activity in the area to reach out to them. The suspect is described as wearing a black face covering, grey track pants and black running shoes.
