The Windsor Police Service has released new video as it investigates a million-dollar suspected arson in the Walkerville area earlier this week. On Monday, just before 7:30 a.m., WPS reports officers responded to a two-storey building fire on Ottawa Street, in the area of Lanspeary Park. Property damage was pegged at $1 million, but no injuries were reported. Police first released surveillance video of someone appearing to run from behind the building in question shortly after report of the fire around 5 a.m., then northbound on Hall Avenue, in a bid to identify the person of interest. Today, investigators have released more video aiming to identify a suspect. The new release shows a hooded figure pacing in a parking lot, carrying a bag and a long stick of some kind as well as another angle of a runner on the sidewalk on a short video loop. Investigators hope the newly released video will help to identify a suspect in the case. Additionally, investigators are urging anyone in the vicinity of the fire to check any video footage they may have recorded between 3:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m. of Oct. 12 to assist in the investigation. Police report a gas can was found inside the building, which houses both residential and commercial spaces.
