TORONTO — Canada’s main stock index rose more than 100 points on Tuesday, helped by strength in technology stocks, while U.S. markets also gained ground. The S&P/TSX composite index was up 130.96 points at 35,649.51. In New York, the Dow Jones industrial average was up 253.38 points at 51,521.28. The S&P 500 index was up 44.98 points at 7,818.93, while the Nasdaq composite was up 122.48 points at 27,599.79. The Canadian dollar traded for 70.29 cents US compared with 70.16 cents US on Monday. The November crude oil contract was up one cent US at US$89.44.
