Lethbridge police have charged a 14-year-old boy with aggravated assault after a 19-year-old man was attacked and injured at a northside park. Police say officers responded to multiple calls about a physical altercation at Legacy Park just after midnight on July 23. Two masked males approached the victim, and one of the suspects produced a knife and attacked him before fleeing the area, police said. The victim was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. Police later located the suspect at a residence and arrested him without incident. Investigators say the victim and suspect were known to each other. Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the accused cannot be identified. He faces charges of aggravated assault and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public. The suspect remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court next month.
