After Wednesday’s winter wallop, Calgarians get a quick breather before our next weather event moves in. Thursday will see a chilly start for the city, but some southerly winds will help get us to a high of -1 C, well within the seasonal range for this time of year with mostly cloudy conditions throughout the afternoon. While the snow had its major moment yesterday, it will be the cold making its presence known heading into the weekend as arctic air heads south. This will drive southern Alberta temperatures down into the minus teens for highs with lows in the -20s. While Calgarians deal with the cold moving in from the north, the mountains will continue to see precipitation from the west as an atmospheric river continues to deliver wet weather to parts of western Canada. An arctic ridge of high pressure will develop over the weekend, keeping conditions pretty stable in Calgary with a mix of sun and cloud Saturday and Sunday with the occasional blast of flurries possible in addition to the cold temperatures.
