Calgary certainly lived up to its title as the ‘Blue Sky City’ on Thursday, as a ridge of high pressure allowed an abundance of sunshine to warm us up on the last day of April. The warm weather story continues Friday with a sunny start to the day and some building cloud cover in the afternoon with a forecast high of 23 C. When those clouds do start to move in from the north, there is a possibility of some brief showers for Calgary in the early evening and again in the early morning hours of Saturday, but nothing sustained for a long period of time. The rest of Saturday is looking pleasant from a condition standpoint, with temperatures in the seasonal range throughout the province. There will be nothing to complain about on Sunday, with a mainly sunny set up and a high of 23 C once again. The next upset in the warm weather trend is poised to take place on Monday. The position of the jet stream puts much of southern Alberta in between a warm air mass from the west and a cold air mass to the east. That will shape up to bring a good amount of cloud to the area that may squeeze out some showers throughout the day. But by Tuesday the warm air miss wins out and the city will start another climb into above seasonal temperatures.
