Calgary singer-songwriter Alex Hughes has performed at the Calgary Stampede before and knows what to expect. “My music is definitely country, but we have lots of pop influences. So, it’s going to be high energy and it’s going to be a lot of fun. I think it will stand up to some of the other shows at the Coke Stage. I’m really excited,” Hughes told CTV News. Hughes performed last year at the Stampede at Nashville North, a venue for country artists. This time, she’s singing on the more pop-oriented Coca-Cola Stage on Sunday, July 5. After pursuing her music career for a while in Los Angeles and Nashville, Hughes is back in her hometown. “I love Calgary, and there’s so much more opportunity here now,” Hughes said.
