Calgary police say eight people have been charged and 18 firearms seized following an 11-month investigation into an alleged organized crime network involved in drug trafficking. Officers also seized about $58,500 worth of drugs and tens of thousands of dollars in cash. The investigation began in September 2025 after police identified a person believed to be involved in drug trafficking. Investigators say they uncovered a network of individuals allegedly connected to drug trafficking, firearms offences, vehicle re-vinning and prescription fraud. Over the course of the investigation, officers executed 15 search warrants and seized dozens of exhibits, including digital devices and other physical evidence. Police say searches and arrests were carried out in multiple phases due to the scope of the case. Prescription fraud investigation Search warrants executed on Dec. 17, 2025, at properties in Delacour and Chestermere, led to the seizure of cash, a cash counter, forged prescription documents, medication believed to have been obtained fraudulently and a radio-frequency jammer. A man and a woman were later arrested and charged with offences including possession of proceeds of crime and uttering forged documents. Both were released and are scheduled to appear in court later this year. Drug trafficking investigation On March 9, 2026, police searched a home in northeast Calgary, an apartment in the Beltline and several vehicles. Officers seized a loaded handgun, ammunition, more than $15,000 in cash, methamphetamine, cocaine, OxyContin pills and items consistent with drug trafficking. Police say drugs were found concealed in vehicle door panels. Two men were charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime. Both were released and are scheduled to appear in court later this month. Traffic stop leads to further charges Police say a traffic stop on March 9, 2025, led to the seizure of a loaded handgun, ammunition, cocaine packaged for distribution and brass knuckles concealed inside a vehicle. A man was later arrested and charged with multiple offences, including possession for the purpose of trafficking, firearms offences and resisting arrest. He was released and is scheduled to appear in court later this month. Additional arrests, firearms seized On March 26, 2026, police, with assistance from the RCMP emergency response team, searched a rural property in Rocky View County and locations in Calgary. Officers seized 13 rifles, two handguns, a shotgun, more than 700 rounds of ammunition, body armour, drugs, cash and two stolen vehicles, including one that had been re-vinned. Three men were charged in connection with the searches, while another remains wanted on multiple firearms and drug trafficking-related offences. Police say one of the accused remains in custody, while others have been released pending court appearances. Staff Sgt. Matt Gow of the Calgary Police Service organized crime enforcement unit says investigations of this scale require significant time and coordination. “This investigation took significant time, resources and coordination across multiple phases, and it reflects the commitment of our investigators to disrupt organized crime and the harm it brings into our community,” he said.
