High River RCMP say a 36-year-old man is charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of a woman this week. At 9:28 p.m. on July 28, Mounties responded to a home on 112 Street East for a disturbance. Officers arrived to find a 36-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds. The victim was taken to High River General Hospital where she later died. RCMP arrested a man at the scene. The victim is identified by police as Cayla Bleeker. Police said the suspect is Jarrett Stobbe. Both are residents of High River. In a news release, RCMP admitted that the disturbance call was not the first call for service at the home that day. Police initially responded at 5:54 p.m. after the suspect contacted police and made allegations about the victim. RCMP investigated “and determined the allegations were unfounded.” Stobbe was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in the Alberta Court of Justice in Okotoks on July 31.
