There’s just one more hot day before a cold, rainy weekend in Calgary. Friday will start out hot, with a temperature of 20 C expected around 8 a.m. that will jump to 28 C for the afternoon. The afternoon will bring some light breezes to the city. Be sure to take a walk around your house while the weather is still nice and make sure the storm drains, gutters and eavestroughs are ready for the heavy rain this weekend. The weather models are just getting going on this system, but at this point, it looks like 50 millimetres of rain is likely in Calgary over the weekend. The heavy rain will fall Saturday night through Monday morning, as temperatures also fall dramatically. It’s always good to have rain after a hot dry spell, but this will be too much rain too fast and could lead to some localized flooding.
