From country to hip-hop to pop to rock, several genres of music will be represented in a free showcase at the King Eddy on Dec. 3. The artists are part of the National Music Centre’s Artist Entrepreneur West program; among them is Zimbabwean-born rapper KtheChosen. “We’ve got quite a breadth of artists in this program. … (It) has been pretty eye-opening in learning the different writing processes people have,” KtheChosen told CTV News. The month-long program focuses on the practical skills, knowledge and resources to help turn emerging artists from Western Canada into thriving artists. “I love how friendly people are here,” said KtheChosen, who moved from Zimbabwe to Calgary for university. “Being from Southern Africa, I was looking for sunshine, and Calgary being the sunniest city, I figured this was probably the place to start off and kind of explore.”
