34 Street between Roper Road and 64 Avenue has reopened after the Fulton Creek culvert was replaced. The city says the replacement project, which started on Sept. 14, was completed about a month ahead of schedule. The culvert, located near Pylypow Wetlands, had reached the end of its service life and required replacement to ensure proper drainage and prevent flooding in the area. A full closure of 34 Street between Roper Road and 64 Avenue was necessary to accommodate an accelerated construction schedule. A large concrete box culvert designed to maintain proper drainage, improve flood response and accommodate future road widening replaced the 70-year-old culvert.
