A 62-year-old man has drowned in central Alberta. Ponoka RCMP got a report of a man calling for help in the middle of Centennial Pond in Ponoka at 9:50 p.m. on July 16. Witnesses said a man had gone underwater and had not resurfaced. Efforts to locate him were not successful. Search and rescue found the man’s body the following morning. The victim was a Ponoka resident.
