An Edmonton coffee shop got a new customer this weekend… And his name is John Cena. The pro wrestler and actor was in town for the Edmonton Fan Expo over the weekend and stopped by Fawkes Cafe and Bakery in the downtown core on Sunday for his favourite: a flat white. He posted a photo on social media Tuesday of the shop’s take on the drink, which involves steamed milk and light foam poured over a shot of espresso, and a pastry. In a social media post of its own, Fawkes Cafe said Cena was “incredibly kind to our staff, and even complimented his flat white which, coming from him, we’re taking as some VERY (sic) high praise.” Cena frequently posts photos of his coffees and pastries on Instagram without descriptions and is known for testing local cafes’ flat whites. “We thought it was just kind of a once in a lifetime thing to have such a big movie star in Fawkes,” owner Jorel Pepin told CTV News Edmonton. “Then later in the evening we started getting tagged in stuff … He was at the Expo Centre and he gave us a shout out on stage.” While Fawkes is often busy with its regulars, he said the “validation” of a Hollywood superstar was one of the most memorable parts of his 20 years owning cafes. “This is surreal that he’s supported local businesses to this level.
