A 22-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with manslaughter, according to Halifax Regional Police. Kiara Marie Organ is set to appear in Dartmouth provincial court Tuesday on charges stemming from the 2024 homicide investigation of Jeffrey Alexander Emmerson. Police first responded to a report of a man who had been assaulted by a woman at a tent encampment on Geary Street in Dartmouth, N.S., on Dec. 22, 2024. Paramedics arrived but the man declined medical attention and further investigation, police say. Four days later, police were called to the same area again where the man was found dead in a tent. Police identified him as Emmerson, who was 56-years-old at the time.
