The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra (ESO) is returning to outdoor stages in the city and surrounding areas. ESO Outdoors will bring a series of summer concerts from Aug. 20 to 30 to new stops at downtown Edmonton’s Station Lands alongside performances in Devon, Fort Saskatchewan, Beaumont and Stony Plain. Each performance features Broadway hits, film music, jazz, classical favourites and popular tunes – including renditions from Wicked and La La Land. Attendees can expect music from classic Bach, Beethoven and Mozart works with a bit of ABBA sprinkled in for good measure. Assistant conductor Shah Sadikov will lead each performance for the first time. “There’s something special about performing outside and connecting with audiences in their own communities, and I can’t wait to share these concerts with everyone,” Sadikov said. ESO outdoors first began in 2021 to connect with audiences post-pandemic and has since become a “cherished summer tradition,” according to a media release. Each concert is admission by donation and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. A full list of concert locations and details can be found online. The Edmonton Symphony Orchestra has featured musicians from a wide range of repertoire from across the country for 75 seasons. The summer concerts are put on with the support of Re/Max.
