Elk Island National Park is slowly reopening after closures earlier this month caused by multiple heavy storms. As of Friday, visitors are able to access the following areas: Bison Loop Road was opened earlier this week for visitors to view wildlife during the bison rut. The rest of the park remains closed as of Friday as clean up continues. “Every effort is being made to re-open the park trails to visitors as soon as possible,” a media release said. Park officials suggest the Beaver Hills Biosphere for avid hikers. Up-to-date information on trail conditions and campgrounds can be found on the Government of Canada website.
