Montreal police have made at least two arrests following a series of break-ins and thefts at restaurants across the city, including several on Duluth Avenue in the Plateau. According to court records obtained by CTV News, one of the accused, 42-year-old Sébastien Trottier Gauthier, allegedly broke into the Coco Disco Club on Duluth Avenue East on July 24 and committed a theft. He is also accused of breaking into Sozo Sushi on Saint-Denis Street, the Ye Olde Orchard Pub & Grill on Prince Arthur Street, Cafe Tere on Prince-Arthur Street, and Capitaine Sandwich on Bullion Street, all between June 23 and July 31. Loic Fortin, chef and co-owner of Coco Disco Club, said in an interview on Thursday that the break-in has rattled him and his partner, Manu Jonik. “[It’s] like someone broke into your home and stole your hard-working money,” he said. Fortin said the break-in and theft, which was caught on surveillance video, cost them $7,000 in damages and stolen goods. “It’s still a pretty vulnerable moment for us,” Jonik said. Another accused is facing more than 40 charges for offences allegedly committed between March and May of this year. Omari Saadiq Sparks, 26, is accused of breaking into several restaurants across the city, including Bossa, Cafe Lili et Oli, I am Pho, Columbus Cafe, Homers Donuts, Ukiya Izakaya, Bacaro Pizzeria, Mandy’s, Thai Express, Second Cup, Coyote Resto Taco Bar, O Fish, Poulet Rouge, and many others.
