Temperatures jumped to 10 C in Edmonton on Monday (several degrees warmer than expected) and it looks like we’ll have afternoon highs hovering around that mark all week. We may pop to 12 C one day and maybe we only get to 8 or 9 C on Thursday, but we should be within a degree or two of 10 C for the high every day through the coming weekend. Morning lows throughout that period should be right around the freezing mark. That’s WAY above average for early November. The average high for Nov. 3 is 4 C, but that average high drops to 2 C by the weekend. Average lows for this week drop from -4 C to -7 C. It’s all thanks to some upper ridging (warmer air aloft). We’ll see a slight dip in that upper ridge Thursday, but then it rebounds for Friday and the weekend. Another dip comes early next week, so I’m pushing the forecast highs into the 5 to 9 C range for Monday/Tuesday. BUT...there are indications we could get an even stronger upper ridge for mid/late next week. So...we may see several more double-digit days next week (maybe even a low teen temperature). Skies will be partly cloudy throughout most of the week and we’re not anticipating any precipitation over the next few days. There’s a slight chance of a shower Friday night as a low-pressure system moves across northern Alberta. That’ll bring some showers and mixed precipitation to the north Friday night/early Saturday. It looks like most (probably all) of that precipitation will avoid the Edmonton area, but I’m leaving a slight risk in the forecast for now. Here’s the forecast for Edmonton and area: Today - Mix of sun & cloud. High: 10 Tonight - Cloudy periods. Fog patches possible overnight. 9pm: 4 Wednesday - Fog patches dissipating. Then, Partly cloudy. Morning Low: 0 Afternoon High: 10 Thursday - Partly cloudy. Morning Low: -1 Afternoon High: 9 Friday - Partly cloudy. 30% chance of a late-day shower. Morning Low: -1 Afternoon High: 10 Saturday - Partly cloudy. Morning Low: 0 Afternoon High: 10 Sunday - Mix of sun & cloud. Windy. Morning Low: 1 Afternoon High: 11
